Fresh dawn sunlight over Kőporos

The small Kőporos winery was founded by Péter Stumpf, who began his own winemaking endeavors in 2012. The vineyards are spread across three family estates: Fürdős Vineyard (Király Hill), Kereszt Vineyard, and Gombos Hill. Most of their vineyards are planted with Tokaj's main grape variety, Furmint, complemented by Zengő, Hárslevelű, and Yellow Muscat.

The winery's philosophy is to avoid blending, as they believe each variety is fascinating on its own. Their goal is to allow the grape varieties to express their unique character and the individuality of the terroir.

In 2023, the winery produced 10,000 bottles of wine and grape juice, reaching their maximum production capacity. The focus of the winery is on the love of wine, quality, and entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to aging in steel tanks, the winery expanded in 2022 with Gönci barrels, allowing for the production of classic Tokaji styles, such as Szamorodni.

In the vineyards, green work is done by hand, while soil work is performed with machinery. The winery is highly recommended for those who enjoy experimental wines that offer a unique experience, such as Tokaji wine with lavender, which is not something one encounters every day.
